VMware to Showcase Mobile Virtualization and Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solutions
Mobile virtualization technology demonstrated at the Pepcom MobileFocus media event
PALO ALTO, Calif. – VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, announced that it will showcase mobile virtualization and enterprise hybrid cloud solutions at this year’s GSMA Mobile World Congress, Feb. 14 – 17 (Hall 2, booth 2H53) in Barcelona, Spain.
At the conference, VMware will showcase a broad portfolio of handset and cloud-based software that enables service providers/network operators to generate incremental revenue from services independent of the underlying network, device and type of application. In the short term, this will enable operators to generate more revenue with existing mobile networks, while laying the foundation for unified services.
VMware will demonstrate the following technologies at its Mobile World Congress booth:
* Mobile Virtualization – VMware will demonstrate the newest advancements in mobile virtualization technology for Google’s Android operating system. Mobile virtualization technology from VMware will enable users to adopt the mobile device of their choice, while allowing corporate IT departments to manage sensitive data on those devices with enterprise-level security and compliance. Demonstrations of VMware Mobile Virtualization technology will also be provided during the Pepcom MobileFocus media event on Monday night.
* Easy and Secure Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Management – Introduced earlier this week, VMware will demonstrate VMware vCloud Connector which provides VMware vSphere® administrators a “single pane of glass” across vSphere infrastructure and VMware vCloud® Powered public and private clouds. Administrators simply enter their cloud credentials and can start viewing and transferring VMs, vApps, and templates between the three.
* Project Horizon: User-Centric Computing – Provided as a technology demo within the VMware booth, Project Horizon is planned as a cloud-based management service designed to enable secure and managed access to applications and data for users across the widest range of end-user devices. As a cloud-based management service, Project Horizon will broker user access to applications, virtual desktops and data resources, while preserving the required level of security and control needed by the business. The result will be a simple, seamless end-user experience when accessing work resources across the private and public cloud on whatever device the user chooses.
* Enabling the Mobile Enterprise – Paul Strong, chief technology officer, VMware EMEA, will participate in a panel on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 2:00 p.m. in Hall 5; Room 3 titled “The Mobile Business Revolution: How the Mobile Internet Changes Businesses and Communication.”
