Now Available: EMC NetWorker 7.6 SP1

EMC delivers the integration of NetWorker with Data Domain Boost software and new ease-of-use capabilities

After EMC World, when was pre-announced the integration of NetWorker with Data Domain Boost software, EMC announces the availability of the integration with NetWorker 7.6 SP1 along with several additional enhancements to NetWorker capabilities, allowing to compete more effectively and further promote next-generation backup and ease of use.

The combination of NetWorker with DD Boost integration and existing EMC Avamar support makes NetWorker a powerful backup solution providing a unified hardware and software and a industry’s leading deduplication product.

Highlights: New NetWorker with DD Boost capabilities are as follows:

• Speeds backups: Improves NetWorker aggregate throughput to a Data Domain system by up to 100 percent by distributing parts of the deduplication process to the NetWorker storage node.

• Simplifies replication management: Enables NetWorker Management Console to manage Data Domain Replicator software for scheduling and visibility of all backups at both primary and secondary locations, including support for separate retention policies.

• Simplifies setup and monitoring: Wizard-based discovery and configuration streamlines setup of Data Domain systems, and new monitoring and reports simplify system administration.

Additional new NetWorker capabilities include:

• New simplified cloning capabilities Allows configuration and scheduling via the NetWorker Management Console, eliminating the need for scripting (but still retaining CLI flexibility).

• Checkpoint restart Allows backups to be restarted from the point of interruption as opposed to restarting from the beginning.

• Advanced File Type Device (backup to disk) enhancements Optimizes the use of disk, including load balancing capabilities and space management.

• Introduction of a capacity-based licensing option Allows customers to purchase NetWorker based on the amount of source data protected.
