Gartner Rates Avaya “Positive” in 2010 Vendor Rating

Gartner has published the 2010 Gartner Vendor Rating on Avaya, an annual report reflecting more than 12 months of progress and effort across Avaya’s global business. Avaya receives an overall “positive” rating from Gartner. Avaya’s rating is based on continued strength in unified communications, telephony, contact center and integration with business processes, even as the continued integration of assets acquired from Nortel, and competition with vendors in the data and collaboration markets remain priorities.

Avaya is specifically rated as “strong positive” and “positive” in several key technology areas, including contact center, voice/IP telephony, unified communications, technology (e.g. Avaya Aura™ architecture) and services. Gartner also rates Data Networking as “promising,” noting Avaya’s commitment to growing the data business. In the area of marketing, Gartner recognises Avaya’s established brand awareness for its communications solutions with a “positive” rating, up from last year. Note, Gartner rates Avaya “caution” on its financials. While this rating is unchanged from the last Vendor Rating, Gartner points out that Avaya’s raw financial score has improved since the last time it rated the company, so there has been progress made on the financial front.
